Research topic
Marine algae, which contain many biologically active compounds are my target of study. I endevaor to reveal algal extractions that have functional ingridients and to shed light on the mechanism of action of these algal extractions using Drosophila melanogaster as a read-out model. I am carrying out life span experiments with different concentrations of the corresponding algal extracts and a series of physiological experiments. I intent for evaluating which organ is the target of this intervention using tissue-specific RNAi experiments and looking into different genes, which show a clear age-associated increase increase in expression level.
